Our web site was built by three high school students in the fall of 2002. The students were part of the Sandpoint Job Service T.G.I.F.(Training Great Individuals For…) program to gain real world job skills and experience.

The three goals for this project were:
• to give the students the environment to demonstrate high work ethics
• to learn how to design and build a web site
• to improve our community by helping market a non-profit agency

The students worked with a local web designer in a scheduled and structured work setting using a mobile computer lab from the University of Idaho Extension District One. They gathered all the content for the web site, took photos, and interviewed Habitat board members. Then an outline was created, graphics chosen and the template written for the web site. The students then placed type and graphics on the pages using Microsoft Front Page, and built the web photo galleries using Adobe Photoshop.

T.G.I.F. Web Site Class sponsors:
BETA - Bonner Education and Technology Alliance
Verizon - awarded grant to U of I Extension for Internet education
U of I Bonner County Extension - purchased portable computer lab, software and paid for technical teacher
Laura Bry - teacher, organized curriculum and taught the web site design skills to the students
North Idaho Workforce Investment Board - provided funding for incentive bonuses to students
Keokee Creative Group - providing free web hosting for this web site
Idaho Dept. of Labor - provided a nice work environment, access to a digital camera, transportation for the field trip to the Habitat home locations, and were very supportive with requests and needs over the five weeks of the class.
