About our presenting organizations

Sandpoint's three big endurance events are each put on by a different nonprofit organization working on behalf of local charitable and community endeavors.

The CHaFE 150 bike, launched in 2007, is staged by the Rotary Club of Sandpoint as a fundraiser for efforts to fight autism and support families affected by this complex developmental disability. The object of Sandpoint Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. See more at Rotary Club of Sandpoint.

The Long Bridge Swim was founded by local swimming enthusiast Eric Ridgway in 1995 and has grown from the first group of 68 friends who swam across Lake Pend Oreille to the more than 800 swimmers expected this year. Initially begun as simply a fun, community-building event, in 2010 the Long Bridge Swim began raising money to support swim lessons for local kids and adults who do not know how to swim. The Scenic Half Marathon was begun in 2008 as an outreach and fundraising event for the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is a non-profit, membership-driven organization of approximately 600 businesses, civic groups, and individuals with the mission to advocate business development and tourism for the local area. See more at SandpointChamber.org.

All three events benefit worthy causes and enhance the economic vitality of Sandpoint and surrounding communities as well promoting a healthy lifestyle. We invite you to participate in our events, as well as join in our community-building efforts!
